Dane DeBower

Veterinarian

My name is Dr. Dane DeBower and I grew up on a cattle farm in Waverly, IA. I have always loved the outdoors and farm life. The curiosity and ingenuity of a farm kid, a love for animals and the sciences led me to a career in veterinary medicine.

I have practiced for almost 30 years at the Plainfield and Clarksville Veterinary Service. We have a diverse clientele that allows us to practice farm animal and pet veterinary medicine. I enjoy mixed animal practice and the variety that our rural location provides.

My wife, Daeneen and I have three grown children and we live on a family farm that has been in the family for 75 years. We enjoy the rural lifestyle, Iowa State athletics and are surrounded by plentiful "wild" life of all kinds.

Jeremy Carpenter

Veterinarian

My name is Dr. Jeremy Carpenter and I have had an interest in veterinary medicine my whole life. I began riding with Dr. Van Arkel, as a junior in high school and then later graduated from Iowa State University in 2006 from the Veterinary Medicine Program.  My responsibilities at Plainfield & Clarksville Veterinary Service include bovine and equine ultrasonography, bovine embryo transfer and bovine and equine surgery. My wife Bethany and I have five children that often get to accompany me on farm calls. When I am not working I enjoy farming with my four sons and spending time with my family.

Christina Karels

Veterinarian

I grew up in Monona, Iowa and had a passion for veterinary medicine since I was in second grade. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry and then went on for a Masters in Biomedical Sciences from Iowa State University. I received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 2018.
I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially the variety I am able to see each and every day. From doing regulatory work at the Waverly Sale Barn to working with horses, pigs, and sheep/goats and all of the dogs and cats, every day is a new challenge and adventure. My husband and I run a cattle feedlot and we have one child and a dog, Ollie. I am a medical officer for the Air Guard out of Des Moines and when I am not working I enjoy spending time outside hunting and fishing. I am a member of the AVMA, IVMA, AABP, and AAEP.

David DeBower

Veterinarian

My name is Dr. David DeBower and I am the most recent addition to the Plainfield & Clarksville Veterinary Service team.  At a young age I was fortunate enough to be immersed in all aspects of veterinary medicine while following alongside my father and many others at the clinic. Throughout high school I worked at Westwood Embryo Services where I found my profound interest in everything cattle related, especially reproduction. I then attended the University of Northern Iowa majoring in biology prior to being accepted to Iowa State University's Veterinary Medicine Program. I most recently graduated from ISU in May of 2024. In my free time, my wife Macy and I enjoy anything outdoors, including hunting, fishing and spending time on the water. I also enjoy working with our small herd of cattle on our family farm. I look forward to serving all the large and small animal client's needs in the future.
